Sites
The implementation area of the project “Restoration of wetlands and peatlands in the North-West Region” (NWPEAT) is the North-West Region, including 10 restoration schemes associated to wetlands or peatlands. The main pressures and threats listed are J02.01 – drainages and A04.01 – intensive grazing.
Sălaj – Mlaștina de la Iaz
The peatland located in Iaz, at 319 m, is included in the foothills of the Plopiș Mountains, and is located, from an administrative point of view, in the commune of Plopiș, Sălaj county.
Maramureș – Iezerul Mare
Tinovul Hărniceștilor is located at 1004 m, and included in the Igniș Mountains, and is located, administratively, in the commune of Desești, Maramureș county.
Cluj – La Poduri
The wetland called La Poduri is located at 1,600 m and it is included in the Gilău-Muntele Mare Mountains and is located, administratively, in the commune of Valea Ierii, Cluj County.
Buzău – Lacul Manta
Lacul Manta is located at 742 m, included in the Buzău Subcarpathians, and is located, administratively, in Chiojdu commune, Buzau county.
Buzău – Lacul Sec
Lacul Sec is located at 1463 m, in Siriu Mountains, and located, administratively, in Chiojdu and Siriu communes, Buzau county.
Bistrița-Năsăud – Tinovul Țesna Împuțită
Tinovul Țesna Împuțită, located at 893 m, is included in the Bârgău Mountains, and is located, administratively, in the commune of Lunca Ilvei, Bistrița-Năsăud county.
Bistrița-Năsăud – Tinovul Câmpeilor
Tinovul Câmpeilor, located at 895 m, is included in the Bârgău Mountains, and is located, administratively, in the commune of Lunca Ilvei, Bistrița-Năsăud county.
Bihor – Tinovul Ic Ponor
The Tinovul ecosystem from Ic Ponor, located at an altitude of 1040 m, is included in the Bihor Mountains and is located, from an administrative point of view, in Budureasa commune, Bihor county.

The Onceasa peatland ecosystem, located at an altitude of 1335 m, is included in the Padiș karst plateau in the Bihor Mountains / Vlădeasa Mountains and is located, from an administrative point of view, in Budureasa commune, Bihor county.
Bihor-Bălileasa
The peatland ecosystem called Turbăria de la Bălileasa, located at 1236 m, is included in the Padiș karstic plateau in the Bihor Mountains and is administratively located in Budureasa commune, Bihor county.
