Field tript at Tinovul Mare

Status

Date: 14.12.2022
Location: Tinovul Mare, Poiana Stampei (Suceava)

Together with colleagues from the Bucharest Institute of Biology of the Romanian Academy, which is currently implementing the PeatRO2 projects (https://www.ibiol.ro/peatro2/sites.html), part of the NWPEAT project team visited the Tinovul Mare in Poiana Stampei. The thematic path created here is an example of sustainable tourism development. This was carried out by the Dorna Cândrenilor Forestry Office and involved the construction of a wooden bridge across the peatland. Along the trail, there are signs providing information about the plants and animals that live here. At the same time, we find out why it is important to preserve peat bogs.
