Activity A4. Carrying out awareness-raising actions for the target group on the conservation of peatland ecosystems
General information
In order to increase the awareness of the inhabitants, potential tourists, but also the local authorities on wetlands / peatlands in the North-West Region, the A4 activity involves certain minimum actions that do not have an invasive effect in the analyzed areas, an approach that will be achieved through the 10 sub-activities (A4.1-A4.10).

Ciocul Paltinului Lake (Buzău county)
Another lake already showing peatland characteristics, located in Buzău county, is the Ciocul Paltinului Lake.
Morcovoaia Lake (Buzău County)
The trails associated with the Siriu Mountains also include The Morcovoaia Lake, a partially clogged peat bog.
Bâlbâitoarea Lake (Prahova County)
Another active peatland with Drosera rotundifolia is Bâlbâitoarea Lake.

Located at the border of the protected area of Făget, several bodies of water still testify to the presence of a peatland.
Interviews with the local community
The NWPEAT team conducted interviews with some residents of Iaz and Plopiș during July 2023 in order to identify their perception of the benefits of peatlands.

As part of the NWPEAT project, the project team developed a questionnaire to identify the public’s perception of the benefits of peatlands.
