Publication of restoration guide

Status

Responding to Sustainable Development Goal 15 aimed at reducing biodiversity loss, the RO-Environment Program stands out as the only national financial instrument aiming to improve the state of peatland ecosystems through restoration activities. It is internationally recognized that the intensive exploitation of peatlands has led to their degradation. Romania is no exception, with 217 wetlands and peatlands considered degraded. Through the aforementioned program, 10 wetlands and peatlands in the North-West Region have undergone restoration works via NWPEAT project.

This guide highlights the restoration works based on monitoring campaigns conducted in all 10 sites and associated restoration schemes.
